About Roots & Wings
Roots & Wings are a rock/indie band hailing from Reading. The band's core currently consists of founding member Alessio, who takes on vocals and guitar and Toby, the drummer, keeps the energy high with his dynamic rhythms. Roots & Wings has been making a name for themselves in the local music scene and beyond. Their music is a blend of rock grit and indie melodies, and their lyrics often touch on themes of self-discovery and life experiences.
The story begins in the Summer of 2020, Alessio (Al) trapped within the same 4 walls he had grown up in, dedicated his entire summer into discovering himself, his music and aspirations.
One of the band's latest singles "Eudemonia" would become his first ever creation, narrating his story through the lyrics. Al found that he had answered all his questions through the words of his own songs so it was time for Roots & Wings to be born.
'Roots' would signify the journey that led him there, never forgetting his past and where he came from, and 'Wings' is the incarnation of the bands aspiration, symbolising the growth and success of a group of people wanting to reach the highest limits.
Fast forward to April 2023, after some roster changes and time spent experimenting, Al, Josh and Toby crossed paths, this marks what is to become the start of their journey together.

"Since the age of 6, music has been in my life. from classical to rock, it always played a part. Fast forward to a few years later and it became my life.
Foo Fighters, Muse, guns and roses, AC/DC - I became who I am thanks to them.
If I can wow the crowd and give back to the world through my music, I have achieved everything I ever wanted, and Roots & Wings helps me do just that! I moved to a whole new country to do this, so you best believe... it's happening!"
Toby - Drums
"Hey, this is Toby, so let me fill you in a little about myself. Raised in Reading, I’ve been drumming for 10+ years, first starting in Primary School with African drums and working my way up to a Degree Class drummer.
Straight away, my earliest influences were Oasis & Green Day. I desperately wanted to become a Rock drummer like Tre Cool after I saw Green Day at Hyde Park; it showed me how much I loved Rock music. So, Rock drumming is my passion and I was looking for something where I could show off my power, flair and stage presence/personality."
